Growing up I had many things that I was interested in ranging from becoming a fighter pilot to pursuing something in the medical/dental field. I have great examples in my family of those who have been in the dental field and as I grew older I became more serious about pursuing a profession in medicine/dentistry. I experienced, first-hand, what it’s like to have orthognathic surgery. It was then I realized Oral Surgery may be my path. As my skills developed, both academically and hands-on, I grew to love Oral Surgery as a unique way to combine medicine and dentistry. I loved all the various surgical rotations in residency and appreciate the scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a profession that challenges me and, above all, impacts the wellness of someone else’s life.

Michael W. Broadbent was raised in Pleasant View, Utah. He attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He received a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, Louisville, Kentucky in 2003. He then pursued a 4 year residency earning him a Certificate and Masters of Science in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, in 2007. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and as a Board Certified Oral Surgeon, became a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2009.

Mike has excelled in every aspect of his dental and surgical career as well as in life. He has earned and maintained the utmost respect and admiration from his classmates, associates, mentors and colleagues. He loves his family and enjoys many activities including snow skiing, water skiing, sports, and the outdoors. His goal as a surgeon as well as in life is to lend the respect and care to others that he was raised with. Because of his education and life experiences, he has brought with him an enthusiasm for his profession to serve the community in a progressive and professional way.
