ADAM MCCORMICK, DDS, FACS

MEET ORAL SURGEON, DR. MCCORMICK

Dr. Adam P. McCormick grew up working with his family. Early memories include taking care of his grandparents’ land, chickens, and horses, as well as helping with a wide variety of family businesses. He learned at a young age that the ability to work could open opportunities in life.

This lesson instilled a work ethic that carried into college years where he naturally enjoyed the sciences and working with his hands. T led him to contemplate a profession in medicine or veterinary science. Several college professors were helpful in pushing him toward a medical profession, but until a friend introduced Adam to his brother, who was an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Adam was not aware of that specific specialty. After observing this surgeon work, Adam was drawn to oral and maxillofacial surgery. He could see the positive life-changing alterations for patients. He loved that oral surgeons both operated and administered anesthesia, and that they worked closely with dentists in the overall care of patients. Adam had found his profession.

Dr. Adam P. McCormick attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City and took a two year hiatus from school to serve a religious mission in Sonora, Mexico. Upon returning home he started a landscaping business with his brother, which helped him pay for college. Adam graduated with a degree in Biology. He went on to dental school at The Ohio State University where he graduated magna cum laude and loved attending Buckeyes football games. Go Bucks! From Columbus he headed to Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia for a four-year surgical/medical residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Adam and his family loved living in Virginia and joined a practice in the Washington D.C. area prior to moving to Utah to start the first oral and maxillofacial surgery program at the first dental school in Utah—Roseman University. Adam loved teaching, but his true passion was in private practice where he now cares for patients at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of Utah.

Adam loves traveling with his family, mountain biking, coaching his kids’ sports teams, and enjoying time with his family and friends. One of his passions is going on humanitarian missions where he can help the underserved. He has been to Honduras, China, Mexico, and Ecuador. He also donates his time at the homeless shelter in Ogden.
